Ownership

Naomi-Rivkis.com is one of several websites owned and operated by my publisher, HyperSpace Express (HSE), a partnership under Dutch law the partners of which are Nora (Naomi) Rivkis and Stephen (Steve) Savitzky. Unless otherwise noted, the copyright of all content (including text, images, videos, sound recordings, and software) is owned by Nora Rivkis.

Use of Content

Content That We Own

Unless otherwise noted, content owned by Nora Rivkis, HyperSpace Express, or Stephen Savitzky is subject to the usual conditions of copyright: you may read it, download a single copy for reading offline, use short quotations in a review or for scholarly purposes, or other forms of fair use. You must cite the author and source of any quotations.

You may analyze the content for use in a search engine database, subject to the restrictions given in the robots.txt file.

You MAY NOT distribute copies, either for commercial or non-commercial purposes, without our explicit permission. You may not modify the content by enclosing it in a frame, inserting anything not part of the original content, or deleting or changing any part of the text, including by adding or changing links, except by using your browser to translate it into another language. Browser-assisted translation may not be accurate, and is done at your own risk.

Some content that we own is provided under a Creative Commons or open source license, as noted, and may be used without permission provided you follow the requirements of the license.

Licensed Content

Some content has been obtained from third parties, and is subject to the terms and conditions of their chosen license; usually a Creative Commons or open source license.

Public Domain Content

Content marked with PD or CC-O is in the public domain and may be used for any purpose whatsoever. Giving credit for it is considered a courtesy, but not required.

User-generated Content

Some content may be provided by users of the website (referred to as “you” in this section), for example in the form of comments on blog entries. You retain copyright for such contributions, but grant us a license to display it on the website and use it for other purposes including advertising, and reviews. In addition such contributions are subject to the following conditions:

• Ask yourself, “Is it relevant?” “Is it helpful?” “Is it kind?” — if the answer to any of these questions is “no”, it is better not to provide it. (I note in passing that some versions of these questions include “is it true?” However, I am a writer of fiction…)
• User-provided content may be screened before publishing, and may be deleted at any time.
• You can withdraw a comment, provided you do so via email from the address you provided on the form with which you made it. However, many people may already have seen it, and it may have been retained by a search engine or archive. We have no control over that.
• No spamming, selling, or advertising.
• Post nothing illegal, deceptive, obscene, defamatory, threatening, or harmful (including but not limited to malicious software).
• Post nothing which you do not have the right to post.
• Post nothing that is script- or AI-generated. We want comments from readers, not robots.

Third-Party Sites

The content may include links that point to “third-party” sites over which we have no control, and which may change at any time without notice. We believed that those links were useful and relevant when we created the content containing them, but the pages they point to may have been deleted, moved, replaced by malware, infested by viruses, or eaten by demons. Feel free to contact us if you believe this has happened.
